The main inn and carriage house

Four kinds of rooms

Pick the kind of room, and we’ll give you the one that’s free for your dates.

  • A guest room with floral wallpaper, a dark wooden bed made up with a patchwork quilt, and a window

Queen rooms: Hemlock, Birch and the Attic Nook

Queen bed, quilt, antique dresser and a window over the garden. The Attic Nook is under the eaves and the quietest room in the inn. Best for one or two.

  • A bedroom with a big window over the bed, wood-paneled walls and a lamp on either side

King rooms with fireplaces: Sugarbush and Orchard

King bed, a gas fireplace you can turn on with a switch, a reading chair and a view across the orchard. The two rooms most couples ask for first.

  • A knotty-pine bedroom with a bed under a red and pink patchwork quilt in afternoon sun

    The Alder Suite

Our largest room: knotty-pine walls, a king bed, a sitting room with a day bed and a deep soaking tub for two. For anniversaries, birthdays and the grandmother of the bride.

Two more rooms for families and friends

Meadow and Brook are two-double rooms on the ground floor of the carriage house, with their own entrances and a short ramp from the parking area. They sleep four, and they’re the rooms we give to families, friends and anyone who’d rather skip the stairs. We don’t have photos we love of them yet, so ask Ellen and she’ll send you some.

Rates by season

Per night for two guests, with breakfast. Friday and Saturday nights add $30 in every season. Vermont rooms tax is added to every stay, and there are no resort fees.

Extra guests are $40 a night. Children under 5 stay free. Rates change each October; the ones above are for stays through next September.

Pet-friendly

Dogs are welcome at the cottage

Our own lab, Biscuit, has opinions about this, and they’re all in favor. The cottage has a fenced yard, a boot tray, towels for muddy paws and a spot by the stove for a dog bed. Up to two dogs, $35 a night each.

Dogs aren’t allowed in the main inn or the carriage-house rooms because of guests with allergies, and they shouldn’t be left alone in the cottage overnight. Service animals are welcome everywhere.

  • Up to two dogs, $35 each per night
  • A fenced yard and a trail from the door
  • Water bowls, towels and a biscuit at check-in

How a room stay is booked

We don’t have a nightly calendar online, so we do it the way an inn has always done it: by asking.

  1. 1

    Send your dates

Use the form on the Contact page or call (802) 555-0148, with your dates, how many of you and any room you’d like.

  2. 2

    We write back

Ellen replies the same day, usually in the morning, with what’s free and the exact rate, including tax.

  3. 3

    Pay the deposit by link

We email a secure link for the first night as a deposit. Pay on your phone and the room is yours.

  4. 4

    Arrive from 3 pm

Check-in is 3 to 7. Tell us if it’ll be later and we’ll leave the porch light on and your key.

Questions about rooms and pets

What time are check-in and checkout?

Check-in is 3 to 7 pm and checkout is 11 am. Early arrival or late checkout is often possible when the room is free; ask Ellen a day ahead. If you’ll arrive after 7, tell us and we’ll leave a key and the porch light on.

Is breakfast included?

Yes, every room rate includes a hot breakfast from 8 to 9:30 in the dining room: pancakes or eggs, local sausage and bacon, granola, fruit and pastries. Margo cooks for allergies and vegetarians if you tell us when you request your stay.

Is there parking and Wi-Fi?

Parking is free beside the inn and the carriage house, with room for about 30 cars. Wi-Fi is free in every room and in the barn, though the signal fades on the far end of the fire-pit path.

Do you take children?

Children of all ages are welcome in the cottage and in the two-double rooms. The queen and king rooms are better suited to children over 8, and cribs are available on request in the carriage-house rooms.

Can I book a room on this site?

Not by the night. Room stays are requested through the form on our Contact page or by phone at (802) 555-0148, and we confirm availability by email, usually the same day. The visits you can book on this site are tours, tastings, a private breakfast, a fire-pit evening and a short call that holds a midweek stay.
