Book and pay
Book a visit, and how paying works
Pick a tour, a tasting, a breakfast or a fire pit and choose your time. Room stays are requested through the Contact page, and this page also explains how we take deposits and balances.
Choose a visit
These are booked by the time, not by the night. Tours and tastings are with Tess, the midweek hold is a call with Ellen, and the private breakfast is with Margo. Some of the bookings ask for a small deposit, and the rest are free or paid at the inn.
- Tours are free
- Deposits come off what you owe us
- Free to move up to 48 hours ahead
- You get a reminder the day before

Room stays
Rooms are requested, not booked on a calendar
We don’t have a nightly availability calendar on this site, and we’d rather say so than fake one. To stay with us, send your dates on the Contact page or call (802) 555-0148, and Ellen will reply the same day with what’s free and the exact rate.
If you’d like two nights midweek, you can hold a room with a 15-minute call: pick a time above, and we’ll hold the room while we talk.
- Request by form or phone
- Ellen replies the same day
- Midweek stays can be held with a short call
How you pay us: a link we email you
There’s no account to make, no portal to forget the password to and no card number to read out over the phone.
- 1
We email a link
When a deposit or balance is due, Ellen or Tess sends a link to the email you gave us, usually within minutes of your call.
- 2
You pay on your phone
The link opens a secure card payment page. Check that the amount matches the quote you were given.
- 3
You get a receipt
It arrives by email right away. Keep it, and we’ll keep a copy.

Deposits and balances
What’s a deposit, and what’s a balance?
Rooms: a deposit of the first night holds your room, and the balance is paid at check-out, at the front desk or by a link we email you after you leave.
The barn: a $250 deposit holds your date and comes off your rental fee. The rest is paid in two parts by link: half when the agreement is signed and the balance 30 days before the event.
Bookings on this site: tours are free; tastings, a private breakfast and a midweek hold take a small deposit when you book, which comes off your bill. Cancel or move one online up to 48 hours ahead and it goes straight back to your card.
If a link ever looks odd
Our links come from stay@alderinnvt.com, and the amount always matches a quote or confirmation we’ve given you. If an email asks you to pay and you aren’t sure, don’t click: call us at (802) 555-0148 and Ellen will check.
We never ask for a card number by email, text or phone. You can always pay at the front desk with a card, a check or cash instead. We can’t offer payment plans, but we’re glad to talk through how a big deposit is split.
Paying for your stay
How do I pay my deposit or balance?
We email you a secure payment link, so there’s no account to make and no card number to read out. Open it on your phone, pay, and you’ll get a receipt by email. See Book & pay for the full explanation.
Are taxes included in the rates?
No. Vermont rooms tax is added to your stay, and the rate on your confirmation email will show it. There are no resort fees or parking fees.
Questions about a deposit?
Ellen handles every reservation and can explain any charge.
